Killer Backup Power Bundle

Conditions & scope for backup power installs (portable generator interlocks, manual transfer switches, and essential-load planning). Built for Southeast Michigan outages—so your home stays functional when the grid goes down.

Quick Summary

The Killer Backup Power Bundle is a code-compliant backup solution that makes it easy to power chosen home loads safely during an outage. The exact setup depends on your panel, the loads you want backed up (sump, fridge, furnace, network, etc.), and the generator type.

Good fit if you need…

  • Sump pump protection
  • Fridge/freezer + essentials powered
  • Heat/furnace blower + basic lighting
  • Reliable “how-to” labeling for your family
  • A safe alternative to extension-cord chaos

What you can expect

  • Clear load plan (what runs + what doesn’t)
  • Interlock or transfer switch installed safely
  • Testing + walkthrough so you can use it
  • Whole-home surge protection included (where applicable)

Conditions & Scope

Last updated: January 20, 2026

1. What the Backup Power Bundle Includes

Unless otherwise stated in your signed proposal, the Backup Power Bundle typically includes:

  • Backup power assessment and essential-load planning (what you want powered during outages)
  • Installation of one code-compliant backup interface (interlock kit or manual transfer switch), as appropriate for your panel and goals
  • Labeling and a simple “outage operating guide” at your electrical panel
  • Startup testing and homeowner walkthrough (how to safely connect and run backup power)
  • Whole-home surge protection installation when compatible and included in the proposal

2. Load Planning (What Will and Won’t Run)

Backup power has limits. Your system is designed around an agreed “essential loads” plan (for example: sump pump, fridge, furnace blower, select lights, outlets). Large loads (EV chargers, electric ranges, AC condensers, electric dryers, hot tubs, etc.) are typically excluded unless explicitly engineered and approved in writing.

3. Generator Type & Customer Responsibilities

  • The customer is responsible for providing/maintaining fuel and safe generator placement per manufacturer instructions.
  • Portable generators must always be used outdoors and away from doors/windows to reduce carbon monoxide risk.
  • If you supply your own generator, it must be compatible with the planned connection method (plug type, output, bonding/neutral configuration as applicable).

4. What Is Not Included (Common Exclusions)

The Backup Power Bundle does not include the following unless explicitly listed in your proposal:

  • Fuel supply work (natural gas piping, propane tank work, gas permits)
  • Automatic standby generator installation unless specified (standby systems are a separate scope)
  • Generator purchase (unless explicitly included and invoiced as part of the project)
  • Concrete pads, exterior enclosures, sound barriers, or landscaping
  • Trenching, long exterior conduit runs, or major panel/service relocations
  • Service upgrades required to support additional loads beyond essential-load backup
  • Repair of pre-existing electrical defects discovered during installation (quoted separately if needed)

5. Panel Compatibility & Site Conditions

Not all panels support all backup methods. If the panel brand, model, or condition prevents safe installation of an interlock or requires corrective work, we will provide options (for example: panel remediation or replacement) before proceeding.

6. Permits & Inspections

  • Permits and inspections are handled as part of the service when required and when included in your proposal.
  • Inspection timing depends on local AHJ availability.
  • Work may be scheduled around inspection timelines for safe energization and sign-off.

7. Pricing: What Changes the Final Cost

Your project is quoted based on visible conditions and reasonable access assumptions. Cost may change if we discover:

  • Unsafe or obsolete panel equipment requiring correction for inspection approval
  • Unexpected wiring conditions, undocumented circuits, or mislabeled feeders
  • Longer-than-expected conduit runs, finished surfaces requiring additional access time, or attic/crawl complications
  • Customer-requested scope expansion (additional backed-up loads, subpanels, outdoor inlets, longer cord routing solutions)

Any material scope change will be presented for approval before additional work.

8. Testing & “Outage-Ready” Guarantee

Our “outage-ready” promise means that, on installation day, we will test and verify that the installed backup interface functions as intended for the scoped loads using safe test procedures (and generator testing when available).

Guarantee does not cover future utility outages, generator mechanical failures, fuel issues, misuse, or changes made by others after installation.

9. Scheduling, Access, and Safety

  • The homeowner or authorized representative must provide safe access to the electrical panel and any required areas (basement, garage, exterior inlet location).
  • Power interruptions may be required; we coordinate shutoffs whenever possible.
  • Unsafe site conditions may limit work performed until corrected.

10. Acceptance of Terms

By scheduling or authorizing the Backup Power Bundle, the customer acknowledges and agrees to these conditions and scope terms.
